Estate Planning Strategy
Estate planning from a financial—not legal—perspective: wealth-transfer, gifting, and legacy strategies developed around your goals.
Braintrust Capital® provides estate planning from a financial perspective: we evaluate wealth-transfer goals, beneficiary arrangements, trust funding, gifting, and estate liquidity as part of your financial plan. We coordinate with your independent estate attorney for legal advice. Legal advice, document drafting, and execution remain with your attorney.
Discuss your planning needs →Financial-perspective estate planning for families and business owners
Families, executives, and business owners whose wealth-transfer goals span retirement accounts, business interests, real estate, trusts, and multigenerational priorities.
Estate planning strategies we develop
Financial-perspective estate plan review
Review existing arrangements against current goals, family circumstances, and the overall balance sheet, and identify questions for your attorney.
Trust and beneficiary structure review
Understand how trusts, beneficiary designations, and account titling interact with your plan. Your attorney advises on legal structure and drafting.
Lifetime gifting strategy
Consider gifting goals, timing, and funding sources alongside tax questions your CPA reviews. Tax treatment depends on your circumstances and is not guaranteed.
Family governance and legacy planning
Think through stewardship, education of the next generation, charitable intentions, and how business interests pass between generations.
What does financial-perspective estate planning include?
Financial-perspective estate planning brings financial analysis to estate decisions: how assets are titled, who is intended to benefit, how retirement accounts and business interests move, and what liquidity exists to support the plan. Braintrust Capital® develops these financial strategies and coordinates with your independent estate-planning counsel for legal advice; it does not provide legal advice, draft documents, or render opinions on the validity of any arrangement.
How does this work with my attorney?
Your estate attorney is the qualified professional for legal advice, document drafting, and execution. Our role is to make sure the attorney has a complete financial picture—asset ownership, beneficiary designations, business interests, and family goals—and that decisions made with the attorney are reflected in the rest of your financial plan.
When should families revisit an estate plan?
Major life events—marriage, divorce, births, deaths, business sales, relocations—often change priorities, as do changes in assets and family circumstances. Because estate outcomes depend on individual facts and applicable law, review timing should be discussed with your attorney and tax professional.
What should you bring to a first conversation?
A general picture of your goals, family situation, major assets, and existing arrangements. Existing estate documents, trust agreements, and beneficiary designations can help frame questions. Do not send sensitive documents through the public contact form.
